APP ROUND UP: Despicable Me, Talking Friends and Jim Henson

In today's app round up, we've got news on a fresh Despicable Me game, a milestone for Talking Friends and 'appisodes' from Jim Henson's Chatter Zoo.

The DESPICABLE ME: MINION RUSH app has launched today on iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android.

Kids can play as a Minion and compete with others in funny, fast-paced challenges in order to impress (former?) super-villain Gru and become Minion of the Year. Check out the trailer here:

The wise-cracking TALKING TOM and TALKING FRIENDS made history today as the popular app franchises reached the one billion apps downloaded mark.

Finally, JIM HENSON'SCHATTER ZOO will debut at Licensing Expo 2013. 

This will premiere to consumers this summer with the launch of an 'appisode' – a mobile entertainment and learning application for kids – produced by Mindshapes. 

Also, The Jim Henson Company is collaborating with Sassy Inc., the lead partner for infant developmental toys and plush, for products in those categories.

Chatter Zoo is an interactive pre-school property featuring four adorable animal babies. Leveraging kids’ innate desire to play teacher, young viewers will engage with the show’s characters by calling out directions, singing and dancing along, clapping, pointing and more all in an effort to teach the babies how to speak.

“As more young children are engaging with content through smart phones, and tablets, we believe the best way to introduce Chatter Zooto our young audienceisthrough this first interactive appisode,” said Melissa Segal, Executive Vice President, Global Consumer Products, The Jim Henson Company.
