Penguin Books and video games publisher Ubisoft are joining forces to expand the Assassin's Creed franchise.
A new book - Assassin's Creed Renaissance - will be based on Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed II and will be published in association with the firm.
Assassin's Creed became the fastest selling new video game in the US and UK, with more than nine million games sold worldwide for the first installment alone. The second game is released on November 20th in the UK, with the book being published on November 26th.
"Penguin are hugely excited to be publishing the novelisation to the second Assassin's Creed game," said Alex Clarke, editorial director. "This partnership presents at last a way for traditional book publishing to cross over with the ever growing and increasingly exciting world of gaming media."
Rob Cooper, MD of Ubisoft, added: "We're delighted to be working with Penguin Books. The book deal, along with the Assassin's Creed Lineage film series, is part of an ambition to bring the Assassin's Creed franchise to multiple entertainment media."
