Atari hires licensing exec

Lee Jacobson on board to bolster worldwide licensing efforts and IP partnership opportunities.

Jacobson has joined the firm as senior vice president of licensing and Digital Publishing. The announcement was made by Atari president and deputy CEO, Jim Wilson to whom Jacobson will report.

Jacobson brings more than 20 years of games industry experience to the role, where he will oversee worldwide licensing, content and product distribution and IP partnerships.

The new recruit was formerly the vice president of business development and licensing at Midway Games.

Over the course of his 20-year interactive entertainment career, Jacobson has supervised global business and new product development, launched new video game franchises, managed external IP and talent licensing, and directed third party developer relations, digital distribution/e-commerce and in-game advertising strategies.

“Lee’s extensive industry experience makes him a valuable asset as we explore new business and licensing opportunities that will drive Atari's continued growth,” said Jim Wilson, president and deputy CEO of Atari.

“These efforts are key to Atari's strategy to engage gamers everywhere they play and introduce them iconic game brands through newly imagined games.”

Jacobson added: “Atari’s has one of the deepest IP portfolios in all of the games industry. Its classic and current IP are ripe for fresh licensing ideas and I am confident that we can find new ways to reach gamers of all ages through the brands they love.”
