On the back of a tremendous start to the year, which saw it walk off with the coveted Toy of the Year gong at the TIA awards at NY Toy Fair, Bakugan is making the move into video games.
Nelvana Enterprises has struck a deal with Activision to create games for Nintendo DS and Wii systems, plus Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3.
"Bakugan's success in 2008 speaks for itself and we're confident it will be even bigger in 2009," said Activision's David Oxford. "It is our goal to expand this proven property in a way that both fans and gamers will love."
Doug Murphy, president of Nelvana and general manager of Corus Kids, added: "Ever since Bakugan exploded in popularity, players have been clamouring for a video game version. We share our fans' excitement in doing battle in an interactive Bakugan world."
The games are currently being developed by Japanese studio Now Production.
