Foundation 9 Entertainment is aiming to bring to life one of America's favourite pastimes, with an officially licensed Pinewood Derby video game with the Boy Scouts of America.

Pinewood Derby is one of the nation's most popular youth activities, with millions of participants building and racing cars over the last 50 years.

Targeted at all ages, gamers can create their own Pinewood Derby car and race against computer opponents. Cars can be fully customised by sanding, painting and polishing, adding decals and choosing high performance options.

Games are available at participating Best Buy stores or downloadable online.

Serving almost 4.7 million people between the ages of seven and 20, with more than 300 councils throughout the US and its territories, the Boy Scouts of America is the nation's foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training.
