Hasbro subsidiary Backflip Studios has tapped former EA and Warner Bros talent, Rex Dickson and Zach Pond to work on a slate of mobile titles including a new Transformers game.

Dickson joins the outfit as design manager while Pond joins as director of digital marketing, bringing the Backflip Studios headcount to over 100 as it continues to grow its team and develop Hasbro’s digital gaming reach.

Disckson previously served as creative director at Electronic Arts for the EA Sports Madden NFL series, while Pond served as director of product management at Warner Bros Entertainment Group for its console and mobile games division.

Both will now be working on games in development and current Backflip Studios titles, including popular mobile games DragonVale, paper Toss and Transformers: Earth Wars.

“We are thrilled to be adding top talent to our growing team,” said Todd HEringer, head of Backflip Studios. “Rex and Zach both bring incredible expertise to Backflip that will help us continue to deliver innovative gaming experiences for players everywhere.

‘With Hasbro’s rich library of brands and IP, and our innovative talent and creative culture, this is an exciting time for Backflip Studios and our teams.”

Hasbro strengthens its brand leadership team with a double promotion

The move comes as the global toymaker looks to strengthen the activity across some of Hasbro’s leading brands such as My Little Pony, Transformers and the recently acquired Power Rangers, as well as its gaming portfolio that includes Monopoly, as well as Nerf, Play-Doh, Baby Alive and Furreal.
