Worms Revolution went down a storm at video game trade show E3 last week, says merchandising agent AT New Media.
The upcoming game – developed by veteran UK studio Team 17 – is out this September. Attendees at E3 had the chance to try the game out, with several critics praising the title, such as Gaming Blend and The Verge.
AT New Media has built a licensing programme for Worms that currently includes IGS for collectible GameOn plush toys and keyrings, Gaya for squeezy toys, Fashion UK for apparel, Bioworld for clothing and accessories, and GB Posters. New lines are also set for launch this year such as collectible resin figures and dioramas, bags, mugs and other accessories.
Worms first arrived in 1995 and the series has gone on to sell 30m retail copies to date.
“There was a huge buzz surrounding Worms Revolution at E3 – delegates were blown away by the game’s fresh, innovative and exciting gameplay combined with sumptuous graphics and that’s a fantastic omen for the game’s launch later this year,” said AT New Media’s Simon Kay.
"From our perspective as merchandising agent, the new game will consolidate the brand’s position in the sector, and boost the efforts of present and future partners in selling products both to the massive Worms fanbase and the mass market."
