The Pokémon Company and Nintendo of America have revealed two new games for the DS handheld.
Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version will be released in spring 2010, and will return players to the scenic Johto region first introduced in the original Pokémon Gold and Silver games almost a decade ago.
The news was announced at the 2009 Pokémon World Championships.
The launch of the new titles will follow the success of Pokémon Platinum, which has sold more than 5.66 million copies worldwide to date.
Pokémon is one of the top children's franchises in history. The video games series has sold more than 193 million units worldwide since its inception 13 years ago. It is also the number one collectible trading card game of all time, boasting 374 per cent growth in the US alone since 2005, and is sold in more than 30 countries across the globe.
