Orchard Books has signed a new publishing deal for a collection of new titles based on the hit children’s property, Pokémon.
The collection of fiction books is scheduled to hit shelves in June this year and follows the ‘huge success’ of the first licensed titles, published in partnership with The Pokémon Company in November 2016.
The new deal will cover multiple formats including a wider range of sticker activity books, novelty, fiction and early reader titles.
Katie Price, licensing director, Hachette Children’s Group, said: “We are thrilled to have agreed this new deal with The Pokémon Company across a range of additional formats.
“We have seen incredible success with the first licensed titles, especially The Official Pokémon Encyclopedia which has sold over 75,000 through lifetime TCM.
“This is a brand which continues to build momentum and we’re excited to be able to offer to fulfil the huge demand for a broader range of publishing under this license.”
The Official Pokémon Encyclopedia is a bestselling title for the group, with lifetime TCM sales standing at 82,636 through Nielsen, and weekly sales consistently hitting over the 2,000 mark.
Both The Official Pokémon Encyclopedia and The Official Pokémon Creative Colouring regularly feature in the top five spots of Nielsen’s Top 10 Licensed Children’s Title chart.
