SEGA Europe appoints CPLG for Sonic the Hedgehog

SEGA Europe has appointed CPLG as its European licensing agent for its hit Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.

The new deal will see CPLG grow the strength of the Sonic Boom and classic Sonic programmes across Benelux, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Nordics, Denmark, Greece and Turkey.

SEGA has stated that the move marks’ a new chapter in Sonic the Hedgehog’s licensing programme’, a property that rose to fame in 1991 when it first appeared in videogame form.

“Sonic is an undisputed classic brand that resonates across all our markets,” said Steve Manners, executive vice president of CPLG.

“We are looking forward to bringing a great product to a new audience through the wonderful Sonic Boom TV series and also offering long term fans new and exciting trend product.”

Sonic continues to enjoy global success, recently highlighted the release of the popular Sonic Dash mobile game, with over 100 million downloads worldwide.
