Sonic licensing push boosted

Gaya Entertainment expands agreement with Jetix Consumer Products.

More products inspired by Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog brand are due to hit shelves, after Gaya Entertainment and Jetix Consumer Products expanded their agreement.

The product line-up includes a collectable chess game that comes with 32 high-end and handpainted PVC figures. This has now been extended with assortments of squeezable figures and keychains.

The figures are around 10cm in height and include Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Eggman (Robotnik), while the squeezee keychains are 6cm in height.

The first products will begin to hit stores from the end of May.

"2009 will be an important year for everybody's favourite Hedgehog and being a part of it is highly appreciated," said CEO of Gaya Entertainment, Andre Schmitz. "With our product line-up for Sonic we intend to offer something for everyone."

Georg Liedmeier, in charge of licensing at Jetix Consumer Products, added: "Jetix is looking forward to working with Gaya Entertainment and delivering quality products from one of its most cherished franchises to both fans of the series and model collectors alike."
