US: Activision dances back into the spotlight

Publisher to roll out new Dancing with the Stars video game on Nintendo Wii and DS systems.
Publish date:

Following the success of last year's Dancing with the Stars video game, publisher Activision is again teaming up with Disney-ABC Television Group's ABC Entertainment and BBC Worldwide America to create a new game for Nintendo's Wii and DS systems.

Dancing with the Stars: Get Your Dance On will arrive in the autumn and features all-new stars such as Mel B, Apolo Anton Ohno, Joey Fatone and Jennie Garth. Players will be able to cha-cha with new professional dancers including Derek Hough and his sister, two time champion Julianne Hough.

The Wii version makes use of the remote and Nunchuck controls, while there is also a special 'flair' move.

"Dancing with the Stars is an ongoin cultural phenomenon that appeals to people of all ages," said Dave Oxford from Activision Publishing. "It is mainstream entertainment at its best. We feel the game is the perfect opportunity to evolve the idea of 'active family fun'."

Meanwhile, Guitar Hero is set to go coast-to-coast with the American Idols Live Tour 2008 from tomorrow (July 1st). The 53-city tour will give concert goers the chance to experience three of the newest Guitar Hero games, plus see a video demonstration of Guitar Hero World Tour, which hits shelves this autumn.
