French media conglomerate Vivendi will accelerate acquisitions in video games and advertising this year following investor concerns about its strategy, mixed results and poor share performance, Reuters has reported.

Sources told the publication that advertising firm Havas and video game publisher Ubisoft, owners of the Assassin's Creed and Far Cry IPs are in the company's sights as targets for the next era of the expansion.

Current CEO of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot has vocally opposed the takeover and has stated that he will continue to fight the acquisition. This means that Vivendi may be forced to pursue a costly, unsolicited full takeover bid.

Yet Vivendi's shares have fallen by about 3 percent over the period and analysts are still awaiting more details from the company about how exactly its strategy will pan out.
