Users will be able to ride the Hogwarts Express online in April.

VIDEO: Harry Potter virtual world revealed

A Harry Potter virtual world will launch on PlayStation Home next month.

The online domain can be accessed using a Sony PlayStation 3. The Potter-themed area will be based around author JK Rowling’s Pottermore site, according to the PlayStation blog, as reported by MCV.

Pottermore is a website that allows the boy wizard’s fans to explore the fiction of the books, play games and interact with friends. It was launched as part of a deal between JK Rowling and Sony.

In PlayStation Home’s Pottermore area, PS3 owners will be able to explore Diagon Alley and ride the Hogwarts Express, kitting out their avatars with Hogwarts uniforms and other Potter-themed items.

There will be a selection of mini-games such as Book Herding and Wizard’s Duels, as well as a Pottermore quiz. Users will be able to link their PlayStation Home and Pottermore accounts and swap virtual trading cards.
