Vivid has championed the rising popularity of female action figures, following the surprising response to the Thunderbirds’ female lead, Kayo.
The firm – who currently holds the master toy licence for ITV’s new-look Thunderbirds Are Go animated TV series – has seen large demand for the show’s female character Kayo.
As a result, the company has told ToyNews that due to popular demand, it is gearing up to launch Kayo’s own action figure in spring/summer of 2016.
Earlier in the year, Vivid revealed that pre-sales of its Thunderbirds Are Go toy line had been ‘overwhelming’ with demand from both consumers and retailers an encouraging sign of Thunderbirds Are Go becoming a hit toy line this Christmas.
“What is new, is the popularity of female characters, particularly Kayo who we have already seen a large demand for in the toy range,” said Mary Wood, marketing director at Vivid.
“As a result, we have been quick to react and are now launching a Kayo figure in spring/summer 2016.”
