Warner Bros. dates Sesame Street movie and US Postal Service celebrates show’s 50th year

Warner Bros has set a release date for its live-action Sesame Street movie.

Tipped to arrive on January 15th, 2021, the Sesame Street film is to be a musical co-financed by Warner Bros. and MGM, and led by Portlandia director and co-creator, Jonathan Krisel.

The educational series premiered in 1969 with a combination of live-action, puppetry, and animation. Familiar faces will make their big screen debut with cast that includes Big Bird, Bert, Ernie, Grover, Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster and Elmo.

In other Sesame Street news, the US Postal Service is honouring the show’s 50th anniversary with a series of Forever stamps featuring 16 of the most popular characters. Classic characters such as Big Bird, oscar the Grouch, Bert and Ernie and Cookie Monster will feature.
