Warner Bros has delayed Batman Vs Superman to 2016.
The sequel, originally due to arrive in cinemas on July 2015, will now land on May 6th, 2016.
The film is a sequel to Man of Steel and will see Ben Affleck take on the role of Batman, while Gal Gadot has signed up to play Wonder Woman.
The release date has been pushed back to ‘allow the filmmakers time to realise fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story.’
"We know that there is already great anticipation building for the next superhero film from Zack Snyder, and we are equally eager to see what he has in store for Superman and Batman as they share the big screen for the first time ever," said Warner Bros president Kwan Vandenberg.
2015 was already looking packed prior to the delay, with The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Terminator: Genesis, Jurassic World and Fast & Furious 7.
Warner Bros will fill the spot previously taken by Batman Vs Superman with Peter Pan, a new version of the classic story by Atonement director Joe Wright.
