Warner Bros. takes wraps off Godzilla consumer products programme

Warner Bros. Consumer Products has revealed a slate of new partners for Godzilla, with the new movie set to hit cinemas in May.

Master toy partner Bandai America leads the way with Godzilla-inspired toys, action figures and play-sets. The film is also being supported by Jakks Pacific which will launch its Massive Godzilla figure. It extends over 43" long and features 12 points of articulation and a swinging tail.

Global partner Rubie’s Costume Co will offer Godzilla costumes for children and adults, as well as a highly detailed mask.

NECA will feature a complete line of novelty and collector toys across a variety of price points, while Sideshow Collectibles will offer high-end collectables.

WBCP has also partnered with a number of apparel licensees including Bioworld, Trevco and Freeze. Younger fans will also be able to pick up themed backpacks from Fast Forward, while food and beverage container manufacturer Thermos launches lunch kits and bottles.

Rounding out the global category support includes publishing partners Insight Editions with Godzilla: The Art of Destruction, plus Legendary Comics with the official graphic novel, Godzilla: Awakening, which is set decades before the events portrayed in the film.

"Already one of the most recognisable characters in all of pop culture, Godzilla’s return to the big screen will re-introduce the ‘King of the Monsters’ to a whole new generation," said Brad Globe, president of WBCP. "By working with key licensing partners who are inspired by the unforgettable experience of the film, WBCP will bring its visuals to life with imaginative product lines that will engage fans both new and old."
