Waterstones is celebrating 50 years of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with an edible chocolate biscuit window display at its flagship Piccadilly store.
The six metre installation – based on the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical stage set in London – was unveiled by cast members, Willy Wonka and Charlie.
The display – celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Roald Dahl tale – took biscuiteers 300 hours to design, bake, build and decorate.
Waterstones will display smaller versions of the chocolate factory – that used over 100 kg of biscuit dough and 200kg of sugar – at its stores in Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, Greenwich, Chiswick, King’s Road, Richmond, Hampstead and Kensington, reports Retail Week.
